Bitch, a provocatively named 100% Grenache from R Wines, achieves the potential of this difficult-to-grow grape. Winemakers Chris Ringland and Lisa Wetherell use fruit from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Yields from the 25-year-old vines grown in sand over clay are modest, 3 to 5 tons an acre. Winery Tasting Notes: Light Crimson Color. Gingerbread spice, strawberries and raspberry confection. Fleshy, round palate with elegant structure.

R Wines makes a concerted effort to produce affordable and entertaining wines. With Bitch we get some old vine Grenache, at competitive pricing amongst the world market, best of all... it is packaged in a pretty, rather retro pink label.
R Wines often gets recognized with reviews from the big periodicals but regardless, you can be sure, they are always a good value for the dollar. This Bitch is a relatively dry Grenache with balanced acidity and lots of soft tannins. We particularly enjoy Bitch Grenache because it is a subtly earthy but bold dry, red that pairs particularly well with our sausages and peppers.
