One sip and you will know how this wine got it's name. a designated section of this 80+ year old vineyard was personally managed by the wine maker himself. He set strict limits on the crop load and was consulted, if and when, any irrigation took place. Labor intensive practices of hand leaf removal and dropping unwanted clusters of grapes insured even ripening and perfect balance in the wine.
Nick's Pick!
The hand crafted quality of this great winery really shows it's best on this super premium Zinfandel. Rich fruit with nice weight and balanced body making it exceptionally smooth, giving way to a long finish.
Staff Selection!
We like Macchia, not only for the Italian Name and the focus on Italian varietal, but because it focuses on intensifying their fruit by aggressively pruning and trellising their vines. Sacraficing quantity in favor of quality! Nice to see this winemaking couple bring some fun back into the business while still making a seriously good line-up of killer, good wines! Macchia makes Lodi and Amador look so good!
