The 2000 Villa Giona is a Bordeaux blend, and one of the few convincing examples of these grapes in the Valpolicella, where a certain grassiness often creeps into these wines. This, instead, offers an intense and penetrating combination of berry fruit and leather aromas and forceful but shapely flavors, solid, graceful and with much length. Drink: 2004-2014. DT AUG 2004

Delicious red, with raisiny fruit, earth and spicy oak aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, it starts off firm but opens up to reveal a solid core of spicy fruit, with tightly packed tannins and a long, spicy fruit finish. Silky. This is a new wine from Allegrini and clearly outstanding. Best after 2005. 500 cases made. ûJS NOV 2004 Issue
