FrescobaldiÆs Brunello always delivers great quality in just about any vintage. Gorgeous nose of ripe berries and slice plums with an almost peach undertone. Full bodied, with a solid core of gorgeously clean and clear dark fruits. Dense and integrated tannins on the finish. So long and fascinating. Best after 2013.

CastelgiocondoÆs Brunello aptly represents the new face of Montalcino with its plump, well-extracted and modern style. The wine is packed with soft black cherry, chocolate and coffee aromas and shows a smooth, long-lasting finish. M.L. (4/1/2011) ù 93

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most juicy, easygoing wines readers will come across in this vintage. A sweet, open bouquet leads to bright red fruits as this vinous Brunello flows from the glass. Crushed flowers, mint and raspberries add complexity on the delicate, nuanced finish. The wineÆs up-front personality makes it an excellent choice for enjoyment over the next handful of years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.
Castelgiocondo is one of Lamberto FrescobaldiÆs two estates in Montalcino. If these new releases are any indication, quality seems to be on the upswing here. May 2011 Issue
