Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
We set aside the best barrels of our Cabernet to produce Special Selection - the only wine in the world honored twice as Wine Spectator magazine's "Wine of the Year." Pushing the limits of richness and concentration, this Cabernet is enjoyable upon release or improves with aging a decade or more. Fine, luxurious tannins give structure to intense flavors of supple cacao bean, chocolate and dark fruits.
Wine Spectator Pure and rich, well-centered on melted black licorice, spice, cedar and dark berry flavors. Deep and complex, if short on finesse and grace, ending with musclebound tannins. Drink now through 2028. 25,964 cases made.
Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2012Intense, concentrated and deep ruby-red, this wine offers complex aromas of red and black fruits, with spice and wild herb notes. In the mouth, the rich flavors are dense, yet elegant, harmonious and graceful, with sweet but firm tannins. With a long finish, this wine's depth and structure will ensure an extraordinary evolution in bottle. Food Pairing: with rich flavors like braised meats, osso bucco and aged, hard cheeses.
Ornellaia Ornellaia 2013What appeared to be a disadvantage for the 2013 vintage - late budding and flowering - proved to be a major advantage thanks to a warm summer and month of September offering textbook conditions for harvesting, with cool temperatures but a prevalence of sunny weather. This resulted in slow but complete ripening with great balance and a delightful aromatic quality, which we like to define as "Elegance". Ornellaia 2013, with its dense, vibrant colour, has a nose of splendid aromatic complexity built around a limpid and brilliant fruitiness, underscored by refined spicy and balsamic notes. The mouth develops vibrant and complex fruity nuances framed by a dense, slender structure with tannins that attain a rare harmony between firmness and fleshiness, concluding with a long balanced and fresh finish.
Bodegas Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2009To the eye we have a ruby-red coloured wine with good robe and no evolution around the rim. This shows it is still in the plenitude of youth. On the nose: Expressive and well-defined aromas of the ageing characteristics with reminders of the fruit coming through. Underlying ripe, red fruit (plums, redcurrants) but evolving into a more modern style bouquet in which subtle nuances begin to appear as the wine is allowed to breathe. First to surface are the notes of good quality wood (cedar, fresh acacia bark), followed by lots of spicy nuances (cinnamon, cloves, black pepper) and finally reminders of tobacco leaves and to finish, a set of aromas which introduce a clear modern character without losing its true identity. Balanced structure on the palate, with body and backbone, tannins which have been fairly well polished through the ageing process but which still have some edge and sensations of noble force, a full, consistent centre, crisp, well balanced acidity, well integrated oak, full of flavour, expressive and suggestive in the mouth aromas, where the fine reminders of the wonderfully ripe grapes are even more in evidence, full, long, lingering finish which makes you want to drink some more. An exemplary Gran reserva, well developed and still full of life. Expression of the fruit, with clean, well integrated wood.
Argiano Solengo 2011Color: Deep, dark purple color. Bouquet: Bouquet of ripe fruit, such as blackcurrants and blackberries, with a hint of toasted oak. Flavor: It is smooth on the palate, with a great concentration of excellent fruit, nicely balanced with delicate, soft tannins. The structure and complexity in the mouth are outstanding, tempered by excellent tannic extracts. Pairings: Ideal with all red meats, grilled foods and medium-high seasoned cheese.
Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 2014 1.5LColor: Classic barbaresco. Bouquet: Scent of spices, pepper and black cherries. Flavor: Powerful, firm, elegant and ethereal. Pairings: Pairs well with egg pastas, risottos, white meats, poultry, red meats, game, venison and aged cheese.
Joseph Phelps Insignia 2014The 2014 Insignia opens with expressive blackberry, cocoa powder, Bergamot and floral aromatics. Fresh and focused with concentrated black fruit, mocha, cardamom and Madagascar vanilla notes. Opulent and rich with supple tannin structure and balance.
Luca Nico by Luca 2009Dark red color with deep purple shades. Dense and concentrated but never loses its ability to exude the red and black fruits and spice that are the true expression of Malbec in Mendoza. This is a huge wine that is a blend of old-vine grapes from 2 of Mendoza's most respected growers, located in two different districts. While you certainly could drink this now, it will improve considerably with 5-7 years in the bottle. If you do drink it now, decant a few hours before drinking.
Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino 2012 1.5LThe Brunello di Montalcino is produced only with grapes coming from the oldest vineyards. Its color is intense ruby and the aromas are of mature fruits, sustained in the palate by great complexity. The tannins are noteworthy, silky and oily, persistent. A wine of optimal equilibrium, elegance and complexity, it will increase its bouquet after a moderate time in bottle. These are great with well structured and composite dishes such as red meats, game maybe accompanied by mushrooms and truffles. A good match could be with seasoned cheeses too.
Podere Poggio Scalette Il Carbonaione 2013Il Carbonaione is a full-bodied, rich wine with an exuberant personality and great aging potential. It has abundant aromas of red and dark berry fruits - tart cherries, blackberries, currants, and plums with notes of spice. On the palate, the wine is lush and full-bodied with flavors of berry fruits buoyed by focused tannins unfolding over a pleasant, lingering finish. Pair this wine with grilled lamb chops, sugo all'amatriciana sauces, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, and terrine de foie gras.
Montepeloso Eneo 2013
Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon exudes warmth and allure. Enticing aromas of sweet dark plum, cocoa powder, and dusty earth are laced with a subtle note of dried mountain sage. The exquisitely seamless, supple, and opulent palate features decadent dark fruit, a savory umami character and sweet, rich, lengthy tannins on the finish. The layers of this powerful wine will unfold beautifully over time.
Cardinale Red Wine 2014A classic Bordeaux blend and flagship from the Kendall Jackson family.
Le Macchiole Messorio 2011A well-defined project from the start: the grapes used to produce this wine come from very specific and young vineyards. Harvesting, winemaking and ageing are aimed at producing a Bolgheri DOC wine based on the traditional Bordeaux blend, typical of our area, but with its own original and distinguishing features. A fresh and complex wine, yet easily enjoyable, which pairs well with a variety of dishes. Bolgheri Rosso is Le Macchiole wine that delivers our personal interpretation of the Bolgheri terroir.
Small Vines TBH Vineyard Pinot Noir 20142014 was the most exciting vintage we have ever seen bright, lifted aromatics; rich, dark colors; intense flavors and a depth and complexity that lingers on the palate. The growing season was easy, moderately warm and consistently dry all year resulting in even and perfectly ripe little berries on small clusters. An early, warm Spring brought the grapes into bloom all at the same time making the fruit reach maturity earlier and at the same time, compressing harvest. We could not be happier with the powerful structure, intense flavors and low alcohol-all in harmonious balance.

Occidental Station Cuvée Catherine Pinot Noir 2012Each year at harvest, Occidental Station is our first vineyard to be picked. Since the fruit always goes into our fermenters first, it does not enjoy the benefit of large populations of yeast already circulating in the winery. Therefore, it is often the slowest to start and may take over three weeks to complete alcoholic fermentation. The extended time in the fermenter only enhances its expressive personality, which features a vibrant purple color, bright natural acidity, and notes of violet, graphite, and cassis. The Occidental Station pinot noir is distinctly purple in its fruit character, in comparison to the red-fruited Bodega Headlands and SWK wines.
