Lavinea Lazy River Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Lavinea Lazy River Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Shiny and ruby red with purple hues, the fist nose reveals fresh cherries with a hint of dusty rose petals and exotic spice: cinnamon, mace and nutmeg. It quickly opens up to reveal fresh strawberry pie and pomegranate nose, laced with red currants, bergamot & floral notes. Smooth, light and velvety on the palate, with fresh berry notes coating and restrained; and savory spice notes lingering on the long finish. A wine of a silky open texture and giving.

Wine SpectatorSupple, open-textured and focused, with powdery tannins underlying the cherry and black tea flavors, picking up stony notes as the finish rolls on. Has presence and impressive length. Best from 2017 through 2024. 225 cases made.

Wine EnthusiastThis deeply fruited wine is a rich cranberry/purple in hue, and flavors put blueberry and plum front and center. There's a touch of cassis, and the tannins are brushed velvety smooth, while remaining substantial, even muscular. Bergamot, pomegranate and marionberry flavors come through as well, in a lush cascade of spicy fruits.

Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Lazy River Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from Jory volcanic soils from vines planted in 2001. Matured in 30% new French oak, it has a rounded, quite sensual bouquet that offers black cherries mixed with blueberry, briary and subtle undergrowth scents that develop more and more delineation as it opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins. Edgy, structured and with some lovely sour cherry fruit, this is one of my picks from Lavinea in 2015, especially thanks to the generous sprinkling of white pepper on the aftertaste. This delicious Pinot Noir comes highly recommended.
